This post is in no way sponsored by Book of the Month. However, I have signed up for their Refer-A-Friend program, if you were to click on any of the BOTM web links in this post & sign up for a discount off your first month, I will receive credit towards books.

So I looked at the Book of the Month website about a year ago, probably many times even before that but started really paying close attention. In that year I get weekly emails trying to entice me to join the club. I have no idea what was holding me back, I seriously can not put one excuse into writing. I am a passionate reader, I rarely buy (but LOVE) physical books....there are a million of reasons why it seemed like a great subscription for me!

Every time an email came into my inbox, instead of just hitting delete as I do with so many newsletters or sales emails that come in, I would read each email very carefully, visit the website, look at all of the books. Sometimes, I would even put a book in my cart but I just never went to the checkout.

About a month ago I started getting the "get your mom a gift subscription" emails. When the second email came into my inbox, I hit forward and sent it on to my partner. He had been asking me over and over what I wanted for mother's day but I was reluctant to give any ideas because after losing my mom I struggling with celebrating my own motherhood.

He never said ANYTHING about this hint, so I thought well maybe he just didn't want me to know. Normally, when I am waiting for a gift I would check our bank account to see what he has been buying.....I know, I know....I suck at surprises. A week or so after I sent him that email I was trying to reset our Netflix password, our account is linked to his email. So......he handed me his phone so I could get into his email and take care of business, I noticed that the email I had forwarded was unopened!!!!!

Of course, 2 days later he is yet again asking me what I would like for Mother's Day. I kindly (or not so) told him that I had forwarded him an email giving him a good idea. He asked me to send it again, the next day I again get an email from the website, so I hit that forward button and sent it along. Well, now I am interested and I keep an eye on our bank account and I see nothing.

Now he does get a little crafty with purchases around holidays, skirting around, asking his mom to purchase things and giving her cash, etc. This doesn't make it easy to snoop at what he is doing. Needless to say....Mother's Day came and went and no books came along, I was given a great wind chime to hang outside of my home office, which has become my temporary workspace for my full-time job.

FINALLY, this morning, I received another email and before I even opened it I made the decision....TODAY WAS THE DAY! I had a little bit of money in my personal account from a craft project I had completed! So I got out my card and went to the site. I went through all of the books and picked out my first book! I am so excited and keep checking my email for a shipping confirmation! Guess a watched pot never boils!
