Happy, happy new year! I am so excited to start sharing my book adventure with everyone!

For as long as I can remember I have been a avid reader, all of my free time has been dedicated to reading since a very early age. I took great pride in the large library that my parents had acquired for me and it felt like a sense of accomplishment to add a new book, recently finished book to the shelf.

As I got older it was very important to me to continue on my reading journey and I watched the library grow and grow. Thank goodness for the invention of the Kindle so that I do not have to have the physical space to house every book that I own (which at last check has been nearing 5,000) AND making book reading much more affordable! As an adult reading has been an escape for me, it has been my me time, my way to relax.

The something happened......LIFE! I went from having two older children to having 2 teenagers AND TWO TODDLERS! I am still unsure of why I would do something so crazy as start over! My evenings of cooking dinner for people who fed themselves, cleaning up some stuff & making them do the rest were over. Today I am going to work, working part-time at home, feeding children, cleaning up, and chasing two toddlers through every evening and weekend. Oh and let's talk about the piles of laundry that they aren't capable of helping put away. If I didn't have a partner that did all of the deep cleaning, I don't know that I would ever be able to try to get more than an hour of sleep a day. BUT don't get me started on sleep, that is a sore subject with me for the past 4 years!

Today I have 2 daughters (one is turning 4 in a couple of weeks, the other is turning 18 a couple of weeks after that) and I have 2 sons (one is 2 and a half, the other is 14). Over the last couple of years some of my friends have talked about books that they have been reading or wanting to read and I have been listening with envy, thinking man I wish I had time to pick up a book! Late in December, I had some what of a mental breakdown, after dealing with the stress of everything that happened in my life in 2019. I decided then and there it was time to start making some time for myself.

My teenagers are typical and don't need me or my time, unless they need money or a ride. My toddlers are starting to become little people of their own and even though they still need a majority of my free time, they are at an age where they are starting to play by themselves, even each other sometimes, and they are starting to get into movies. So I am finding that I can sneak in a little time with a book, my partner and kids even got me a nice pair of ear buds for my birthday so that I can listen to audiobooks and podcasts while I am busy doing other stuff.

It is nice to be able to have an outlet to escape from reality a little and relax! I have always loved getting advanced copies of books and providing honest feedback to the authors so starting this blogging journey seemed like a natural fit. I can't wait to introduce all of you to some of my favorite books and hopefully, you will be able to let me in on some of your favorite books and authors to check out too!
