So.....here in the midwest we have an AMAZING hardware chain called Menards. Besides the fact that you can get EVERYTHING for your household from toilet paper to paint, siding, and doors, they always have amazing deals on current bestsellers. So while my partner is off gathering supplies for the newest project I always duck away to peek at what they have!
I have been seeing this book in stores for a LONG time but I usually buy e-books, now that the summer months are here and I will be sending a lot of time outside in the sun, I decided to get it! WOW! I am so glad that I did.
Synopsis:
It isn’t paranoia if it’s really happening . . .
Anna Fox lives alone—a recluse in her New York City home, unable to venture outside. She spends her day drinking wine (maybe too much), watching old movies, recalling happier times . . . and spying on her neighbors.
Then the Russells move into the house across the way: a father, a mother, their teenage son. The perfect family. But when Anna, gazing out her window one night, sees something she shouldn’t, her world begins to crumble—and its shocking secrets are laid bare.
What is real? What is imagined? Who is in danger? Who is in control? In this diabolically gripping thriller, no one—and nothing—is what it seems.
What I Liked:
Thriller is my genre of choice a majority of the time! After the first 100 pages I had a hard time putting this book down to tend to my responsibilities! The main twist in the book was laid out slowly in multiple chapters spread throughout the book.
Rather than having only one twist and turn there were several, this book really kept me on my toes. One thing about some thrillers that drives me nuts is that there is usually one major twist that you will either uncover too early in the book or very late in the book, about two-thirds of the way through the book you uncover the first of many twists after that one thing after another is uncovered. Once you think that you have it all figured out you may not believe what happens next.
What I Didn't Like:
I had to sit here for a long time before I could figure out what it was that I didn't like about the book! Finally, I decided the only issue I had with the book is that I figured out one of the twists several pages before it was uncovered and then it felt like forever before I got to the pages of realization!
My Rating:

This was the authors debut novel and seriously he has knocked it out of the park! There are so many things I want to say about this book but I do not want to leave any spoilers here. All I can say is if you haven't read this book yet, it is time!!!!! There is a movie that was set to come out in May but I couldn't find any information on when the release will happen now, hopefully with businesses opening back up it will be soon! I can not wait to see what A.J. Finn comes up with next!
This book is a must-read, especially if you are a Gillian Flynn fan!
