I wanted to hate this book.....I am about to make a statement that will probably make a ton of women out there hate me. I HATED Girl Wash Your Face! I am not sure what exactly made me hate it. I listened to the audiobook and something about her, her story, and her voice really grated on my nerves. However, I did finish the book because it was such a big deal in my book-loving community. When I was scanning my reading list and came across Rachel's first non-fiction book Party Girl and decided what the hell....I might as well give it a shot! I am not afraid to admit that I LOVED it!!! It was a nice easy read and you could really just escape into the story without having to think too much.
Party Girl follows Landon on her journey by moving from being a Texas country girl to the big city of Hollywood to chase her dream of becoming a big-time event planner. Landon lands a dream job as an intern for her idol, we follow Landon while she struggles with the death of her dream as she realizes that her idol is a monster. Landon is trying to keep her head above water while she is in WAY over her head, she finds herself in the company of new friends, including her moody new roommate, and an unlikely love interest.
What I Liked:
Since I am a small-town girl I love reading stories about small-town girls having huge adventures. Even though these adventures can sometimes seem unlikely, it makes me hoot and holler with pride that a girl like me could come up from nothing, move to the big city, make influential friends, and find a dream guy. Most of the time I read mystery, suspense, thriller books, but every now and then I need something to read that doesn't require a lot of thought. I can just get lost in a good story, this was one of those books. It flowed very easy, right away you really started rooting for Landon to succeed and for all of her dreams to come true. Though Landon has one of those bubbly personalities that you might find annoying in real life, it was very endearing in the story. Her moody roommate coming out of her shell and the adventures that they have with Landon's friend and co-work Miko are full of fun, and Max and Miko add an extra spark to the book. After the story of Landon, there are two more books, each following Max and Miko's stories.
What I Didn't Like:
I really had to try hard on this fact.....I didn't like how predictable the plot of the story was. We have read the same story a million times. Small-town girl moves to the big city to follow her dreams and it isn't all it's cracked up to be, but through her struggles, she meets amazing new people, realizes her dreams are coming true and finds an amazing love story. The author made up for this with a ton of personality in the book as well as the addition of Max and Miko.
My Rating:

I am giving this book a surprising 4 stars. I didn't go into the book with very high expectations but I ending up really enjoying the book. Due to the predictability of the main character's journey based on a ton of other books/movies I couldn't manage that 5th star. I have already started on the 2nd of the books in the series, Sweet Girl.

From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Girl, Wash Your Face comes the story of a small-town girl finding her way in Hollywood one misstep at a time—now paired with the novella Party Girl’s First Date.
Landon Brinkley’s dreams are all coming true. She’s landed an internship with a fabulous event planner for the Hollywood elite, taking her from small-town Texas to the bright lights of LA. Landon finds herself in a world in which spending a million dollars on an event—even a child’s birthday party—is de rigueur, and the whims of celebrity clients are life-and-death matters. At first, the thrill of working on A-list parties and celebrity weddings is enough to survive the seventy-five-hour workweeks and her mercurial boss. But when the reality of the business reveals itself, she’s forced to make a choice: do whatever it takes to get ahead, or stay true to herself.
Drawing on the author’s real-life experiences as an event planner to the stars, Party Girl takes readers on an adventure among Hollywood’s most beautiful—and most outrageous—people, revealing the ugly side of Hollywood’s prettiest parties.
Revised edition: This edition of Party Girl includes editorial revisions and additional content.
